We are dedicated to animal welfare and aim our efforts at achieving the greatest good for
the greatest number of people and their pets. We hope this utilitarian approach to veterinary care will enable us to significantly impact the welfare of animals in our community.
We rely on empirical medical approaches and efficient surgical techniques to streamline our efforts and maximize the number of people and pets we can serve.
Additional charges apply for dogs over 80 pounds, obese pets, pregnancies, pyometras, cryptorchid castrations, and other complications.
We believe that reproductive sterilization (spay and neuter surgery) is the most humane and effective way to combat pet overpopulation and to reduce animal shelter admissions and pet euthanasia rates.
Additionally, we believe pets live longer and healthier lives when they are spayed and neutered. We
choose to work with clients who are willing to spay and neuter their pets at the appropriate age,
depending on their species and breed. Our initial medical evaluation and preventive care (vaccination, flea,). and heartworm medications) are open to all pets, but for further medical and surgical care at our hospital, we require our patients to be spayed and neutered.
Many of our pets have teeth just like us. Just as our teeth require care and maintenance, so too do ourpet’s teeth. Unfortunately, most pet owners only consider their pet’s dental health when problems
arise. We recommend you discuss your pet’s dental health at each yearly wellness exam and plan for
routine dental cleanings in order to keep your pets healthy and pain free. Our dental services include
scaling and polishing the teeth, periodontal evaluation, and dental radiographs (x-rays), just like when
you go to the dentist: however, our patients won’t hold still for this care and must be placed under
general anesthesia. Most pets receiving dental cleanings will require some teeth to be surgically
extracted. Dental extractions can be difficult and time consuming. In order to minimize patient risks and
trauma, we limit our dental procedures to 2 hours. A few of the more major dental procedures will need
to be staged into two separate anesthetic events.
We believe that some dentistry is better than no dentistry and are willing to work with pet owners tostage their pet’s dental surgery to make this care more manageable and affordable.
